The Light Factory's 7th Annuale

I am honored to be one of six photographic artists selected for inclusion in The Light Factory's 7th Annuale, juried by Dennis Kiel, former Chief Curator of The Light Factory, and now the Director of the Dishman Art Museum at Larmar University, in Beaumont, Texas.  

The opening reception is April 24, at 6:30 pm.  I am excited to have my work represented at The Light Factory, and I hope to see you in Charlotte at the opening!

The winners of this year's Annuale include:  Diana Bloomfield, from Raleigh, NC; Micah Cash, from Charlotte, NC; Beth Lilly, from Atlanta, GA; Michael Joseph, from Boston, MA; Jeremy Underwood, from Houston, TX; and Carl R. Wilson, from Logan, UT.

LOOK 15: The International Liverpool Photography Festival

I am honored that "Ribboned Water" (tri-color gum over platinum) was selected for LOOK 15 and will be traveling to Liverpool.

A total of 12 works, made by 11 artists, have been curated by the Executive Director of LOOK/15, Emma Smith, for inclusion in this year's Festival.  

These works were chosen from the TPS Alternative Process Exhibition, now showing at the Options Gallery in Odessa, Texas (see below post).

Texas Photographic Society's Alternative Processes 2015 Exhibit, juried by artist, educator, and author, Christopher James, will be on exhibit at Odessa College, in Odessa, Texas, at their Options Gallery, opening April 6.

It's here!  

Christopher James' The Book of Alternative Photographic Processes, Third Edition, arrived on my doorstep today.  And it is so beautifully produced-- packed full of such useful information, amazing imagery, and a broad range of incredible techniques and processes.  

For photographers and for those who love photographic images-- especially anything related to alternative photographic techniques-- you seriously need to have this book on your bookshelf.  It really is chocked full of invaluable information and stunning, imaginative, inspiring work.

And I am so honored and pleased to have three of my images included in James' long-awaited Third Edition.  So check it out!

Light Sensitive 2015: Celebrating Images from the Darkroom

Art Intersection, located in Gilbert, Arizona, presents their fourth annual Light Sensitive juried exhibition in their North and South Galleries.  This exhibit was juried by Robert Hirsch, artist, curator, and author.  The exhibit runs from March 7 to April 18.

I am pleased to have my tricolor gum bichromate image, Wading, included in this exhibit.

Light Sensitive, a juried exhibition, celebrates the art of creating handmade images using traditional photographic print making processes.  Work this year comes from international artists and includes c-prints, platinum/palladium, cyanotype, gelatin silver, gum bichromate . . .

Here it is - the edge of the soon-to-be historic snowstorm of the century.  

Image below was made by my daughter, from the train early this morning - outward bound from NYC's Penn Station, heading into NJ.

Adam Finkelston, Owner, Publisher, and Co-editor of The Hand Magazinewas the organizer -- along with Professor of Art and Gallery Director Rebecca Foley, of Missouri Western State University-- of the current exhibit, Do you Copy? now being shown at the University's Potter Gallery, through February 19.
