I am both honored and thrilled to receive a Merit Award in this year's Denis Roussel Award for 2020. A big thank you to the Rfotofolio folks, Connie and Jerry Rosenthal, and to all those who helped sponsor this award-- and especially to juror Christopher James. I most especially appreciate his words about the jurying itself, and about each artist's work, in particular-- at once illuminating, thoughtful, and so helpful. Denis Roussel was such an amazingly creative talent. I'm honored to have my work included, and especially among such outstanding artists with uniquely beautiful works.. Letting go of subjective perfection… Such a great release from that pressure and the expected results of a disciplined and very eclectic exercise… to create something new every 24 hours during a year. In many ways, a perfect reflection of the Denis Roussel spirit. The Old Garden embodies this idea and easily illustrates a mature artist in graceful control of the medium. Great work!
